5th International Forum on Sustainable Future in Asia

The 5th International Forum for Sustainable Future in Asia (the 5th NIES International Forum) was held on 21-22 January 2020 at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel, Yangon, Myanmar in cooperation with the organizer, the National Institute for Environmental Studies (Japan), and co-organizers, the Institute for Future Initiatives of the University of Tokyo and the Regional Resource Center for Asia and the Pacific of the Asian Institute of Technology. The program was held with three sessions: 1. Current Environmental Issues, Health Problems, and Research Challenges in Asian Countries: Toward Ensuring Healthy Lives and Well-being for Generations to Come 2. Beyond Win-Win: Synergetic Strategies for Sustainable Development Goals on Combating Climate Change and Protecting Healthy Ecosystems 3. Integrative Approach for Strategic Design toward Sustainable Development Goals in Asia On 23rd January, a "Public Talk" was hosted by NIES and UM1 on Recent Environmental Issues faced in Asian Countries". UM1 will continue research on environmental health issues in collaboration with domestic and international research institutions.
